Who We Are
Christian Church Dewitt MI
WHAT WE ARE ABOUT
It’s not just a building, or programs and events. This church is about people. People who are on a mission with Jesus.
WHAT WE DO
Our mission is to help all people move toward a life fully devoted to Jesus Christ. We might call that discipleship, spiritual growth, being a Christ follower, etc. – we believe all of this is capable in the context of relationships with other people. Relationships, the people in our life, is God’s plan A for our spiritual development. Therefore, at Northpointe, we are all about helping you plug into groups, a place where those types of relationships can be made. Whether it’s a LifeGroup, Connect Group, Care Group, or just a group of people who are committed to each other, our goal is to move you past just Sunday Morning worship and into something much deeper.
WHAT WE BELIEVE
At Northpointe, we make a big deal out of a few things, while other things we might think are important, but don’t make as big a deal out of. We call this ‘majoring on the majors, and minoring on the minors’ – here are some things that we consider to be major:
THE BIBLE is exactly what God wanted us to know about Him and about life, and is the source of truth for what we think and how we should live. The Bible is how we know God and know life. Psalm 19:7-11, Isaiah 40:8, 2 Timothy 3:15-17, 2 Peter 1:21
GOD is the Creator of all things, infinitely perfect & existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Genesis 1:26, Isaiah 9:6-7, Matthew 28:19-20
JESUS CHRIST is God. He came to earth to die in our place in order to pay the penalty of our sin, and is waiting to take those who are pursuing Him to Heaven to live there forever with him. John 1:1-14, Acts 1:11, Philippians 2:5-11
HOLY SPIRIT is a permanent resident with every believer from the moment of salvation. He provides every believer with gifts for service and with the fullness of God’s power to make him adequate for living. John 16:8-14, Romans 8:26, Acts 2:38-39, Ephesians 5:18
PEOPLE (mankind) are created in the image of God, have sinned, and are now saved by God’s grace through faith in Christ. John 14:6, Romans 3:10-23, Titus 3:5
SALVATION is also described as ‘being in right relationship with God’. God loved us enough to provide a ‘fix’ to our broken relationship with Him. We believe this ‘fix’ comes in knowing Jesus Christ in a personal way.
We believe relationships are a big deal. God created us to have a healthy, authentic relationship with Him. Activities like Bible reading, prayer, singing worship songs, communion, Baptism, etc., are all ways to develop and refine a healthy relationship with God. We are also convinced that becoming a fully devoted follower of Jesus Christ happens best in the context of relationships with other people. So we are committed to activities like corporate worship, connecting groups, and service to our local and global communities.
