Children's Ministry

Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from him.

Psalm 127:3

Welcome to Northpointe Children's Ministry! We're thrilled to have you here. We believe that God is at work in the younger generation of our church, including your kids. Every Sunday, while you're in service learning about Jesus, your children are too, with age-appropriate programming running alongside adult services. Our aim is to partner with parents like you to nurture your child's faith journey, ensuring they develop a lifelong relationship with Jesus Christ. We make every moment count by using interactive games, multimedia resources, and the enthusiasm of our volunteers. See you this Sunday!

Timber Town
Birth through Pre-K

In Timber Town, we aim to instill trust in Jesus, growing a love for God, self, and others. Our mission is to show Jesus's sacrificial love, affirming children as God's creations and inviting them into friendship with Jesus. Through music, prayer, activities, and small group's, we spark curiosity and a desire to know God.

KidsWorld
Kindergarten through 3rd grade

In KidsWorld, we bring the Bible to life through exciting and engaging experiences, prioritizing fun and memorable encounters for children. With a variety of activities like worship, games, crafts, and bible stories coming to life, we aim to immerse kids in the wonders of Scripture. Our mission is to ignite a love for Jesus and treasuring the truths of God's Word, while growing their trust in God and a sense of belonging in His family.

Merge
4th and 5th grade

Merge is a relaxed group where preteens can freely ask questions about life and the Bible. Recognizing the independence and curiosity of 4th and 5th graders, we address their questions about following Jesus and living out their every day faith. Through group discussions, activities, and Bible study, we provide an environment for 4th and 5th graders to grow in their faith in Jesus.

FAQs

Q:  What is my child taught while in class?
A: Your child will learn straight from God’s Word through biblical teachings in video and in-person instruction. We use Orange Curriculum which bridges together the partnership of home and church. We want to come alongside you as parents and help your children grow in a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ.

Q: How do I know my child is safe?
A:
When you come to the check-in station, you will receive 2 printed child tags per child. One is placed on the child with their name, any highlighted allergies, and a number. The second tag is a number that corresponds with your child’s name tag. You hold on to this number tag as it is used to safely pick your child up after service.
All of our volunteers go through an application and Federal background check screening process in order to be your child’s leader.
Lastly, we have a LifeSafety member that stands at our children’s wing to ensure that only people with proper identification are allowed back with the children (volunteer & staff tags, parent tag, etc).

Q: What if my child needs me during service?
A:
If at any time your child needs you during service, you will be sent a text message* letting you know to come to the children’s wing. Once there, you will be greeted by our Sunday Supervisor, who will inform you of the situation and allow you to see your child.
*If after two texts we are still unable to get ahold of you, your number from your check-in tag will be displayed on the stage screen in service.

Q: How do you determine where my child is placed in a classroom?
A: We place children in classrooms based on their age or grade.
For our infants thru pre-K, they move to their designated classroom based on their age throughout the year. However, we recognize that all children grow at different developmental stages and ask that if you would like your child moved up a class, within our infants to pre-K program, to speak with the Director of Children’s Ministry before checking the child in on Sunday. Helping us understand your child’s needs will allow us to place them in a classroom that’s the best fit and give them the greatest experience for learning about Jesus!
For Kindergarten thru 5th grade, students are placed in their classes based on grade level and are “promoted” once a year on Promotion Sunday (typically the end of August). We do this as the curriculum is age appropriate for these grade levels. This ensures that your child is getting the greatest experience learning about Jesus!

Q: What if my child has allergies?
A: When you first register your child, you will be asked if your child has allergies. This will be documented in our system and printed on your child’s name tag at every check-in. Your child’s allergies will also be listed on the room’s roster list. Making your child’s leader aware of the allergies when you drop them off is always helpful too.

Q: What if I have a child with special needs?
A: We want to make sure that every child has a positive, Jesus-centered experience on Sunday morning and one of the ways that we help make that happen is by learning about and understanding your children. Educating volunteers, altering programming, adding a Northpointe Buddy who can help a child better engage with a program, or more may be an option to creating a specialized Sunday experience. If you have a child with special needs, we would be happy to create a plan where they can have a fun, safe, and positive experience. We ask that you reach out to our Children's minister, Jenna DeFrain, at jdefrain@northpointecc.org and she will work with you to create a customized plan and experience for your child.
